On Friday 21 August, the Year 11 cohort participated in a School Culture Workshop focused on a central question: What sort of senior cohort do we want to be? Students explored how culture is shaped through everyday behaviours, traditions and values, and examined themes emerging from more than 30 years of Churchie School Captain speeches, including character, service, participation and belonging.

A highlight of the morning was an Old Boys panel featuring Alastair MacLeod (1991), Ian Harvey Ross (2006) and Jack (JB) Butler-Wood (2019), who shared some fascinating anecdotes about their Year 12 experiences at Churchie. Their perspectives around the enduring values of Churchie, emphasising kindness, respect and being deliberate in seizing the opportunities to do more, were highly valuable.

Students then worked in House groups to conduct a culture audit and deliver presentations outlining the values, behaviours and cultural priorities they believe should define the Class of 2027. As this group prepare to take over as the senior cohort, it was an excellent opportunity to share ideas about how they want to lead the school over the next 12 months.
