The Churchie Cadet community is proud to celebrate the achievements of Hamish Young (2024), whose recent graduation from the Royal Australian Air Force marks a significant milestone in a journey that began during his time as a student and Air Force Cadet.
A graduate of both Churchie and No. 203 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets, Hamish embraced the opportunities offered through the cadet programme, developing the leadership, discipline and commitment to service that have helped shape his pathway into the Australian Defence Force. His achievement serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished through dedication, perseverance and a willingness to pursue ambitious goals.
Pictured alongside Hamish is Harry Hall, a fellow graduate of No. 203 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets, the unit that enjoys a long and valued affiliation with Churchie. While Harry is not a Churchie Old Boy, he shares with Hamish the experience of having progressed through 203 Squadron and embodies the same spirit of leadership, service and aviation enthusiasm that the Squadron seeks to foster in its cadets.
The success of these young men highlights the enduring impact of the Australian Air Force Cadets programme and the opportunities it provides for young Australians to develop character, confidence and leadership skills. For some, such as Hamish, the cadet experience becomes the foundation for a career in military service. For many others, the lessons learned through cadets continue to influence their lives long after they have left the parade ground.
Churchie is proud of its long-standing association with No. 203 Squadron and the positive role the Squadron plays in the development of young people across South East Queensland. Seeing former cadets achieve success in aviation, defence and the wider community is a powerful reminder of the value of the cadet experience.
The Churchie Cadet Unit congratulates Hamish on his graduation from the Royal Australian Air Force and extends its best wishes to both Hamish and Harry as they continue their respective journeys. Their achievements are a source of pride for No. 203 Squadron AAFC, the broader cadet community and all those who have supported them along the way.
