Old Boy Alexander Crowley (2022), pictured, is a 2025 recipient of the Churchie Foundation ‘Overseas Study Scholarship for Old Boys’. He recently attended the University of Liverpool and has penned the following recollections of his experience.

Last September, I embarked on my semester long exchange to the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. I was faced with new challenges, in a completely different environment but I look back and have no regrets. Being in the UK, I had complete access to the EU and surrounding British cities for low-cost weekend trips and balancing my studies. I undertook 3 subjects from the University of Liverpool business management discipline, focusing on broadening my knowledge on the international business front. Throughout my exchange I personally dealt with several challenges but overcame them as best I could. Through the support network of friends and my girlfriend I was able to push through the tough times and would highly encourage anyone seeking a life experience to embark on an exchange program. A highlight for me would be joining a university league, taking place every Thursday, the university of Liverpool came 8th in the UK in the USS student showdown. This is where I met some of my closest friends and will consider them friends for life, you can always find your group of people. Overall, the experience left me wishing I could have stayed longer, but returning home was a must as I enter my final year of business at QUT.

This year Churchie Foundation is again awarding the Overseas Study Scholarships for Old Boys. Applications are now invited from Old Boys and current Year 12 students wishing to attend colleges or universities in the UK or USA.
