Class of 2021

Old Boy Kaileb Crothers (2021), pictured, is a 2025 recipient of the Churchie Foundation ‘Overseas Study Scholarship for Old Boys’. He recently attended the Copenhagen Business School and has penned the following recollections of his experience.

From January to June 2025, I spent six months on exchange at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), one of Europe’s leading business institutions. The program was a fantastic opportunity to further my studies while experiencing a different way of living in a new cultural setting.

The exchange broadened my academic perspective and introduced me to diverse teaching approaches. Just as importantly, it allowed me to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds, forming friendships and networks that I will carry forward.

Day-to-day life in Copenhagen gave me the chance to really experience Danish culture -exploring the city, meeting locals, and adapting to a new lifestyle. Being so far away from Australia, I’m not sure I would have ever had the chance to experience a culture so different without this opportunity. This balance of study and cultural immersion contributed greatly to both my academic and personal growth.

Overall, my exchange in Copenhagen was an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend the chance to study overseas to anyone, whether at an exchange level, a master’s program, or an entire undergraduate degree. I was challenged as both a student and a person and believe I’ve grown in many ways. I am extremely grateful to the Churchie Foundation for their support in making this opportunity possible.

This year Churchie Foundation is again awarding the Overseas Study Scholarships for Old Boys. Applications are now invited from Old Boys and current Year 12 students wishing to attend colleges or universities in the UK or USA. The application process will close on Sunday 31 May. To find out more information and/or apply for a scholarship, please click here.
