Old Boy News

Old Boy Jesse Daley (2014) was a member of the Churchie First XI from 2012 to 2014. In 2014 he was vice-captain and was also a member of the Queensland Independent Schools (Uhlsport) Cup champions. Jesse has always remained in contact with the Churchie programme and is still thought of fondly by the staff who worked with him while he was a student at Churchie.

Since leaving school Jesse has been a member and captain of the Brisbane Roar National Youth League (NYL) team and more recently has spent the last few years in the United States playing for Tacoma Defiance, which is the second team to Seattle Sounders in the Major League Soccer (MLS). Whilst there he was referred to as Jesse the Defiant for his tough, gritty and determined style of play, sheer force of will and abundance of ambition. He was also described as “A captain without the rank” as his voice is strong enough that wearing an armband is considered unnecessary.

Jesse has just signed a contract with Brisbane Roar. Congratulations Jesse! In doing so, Jesse will play alongside fellow Old Boy Jordan Courtney-Perkins (2020), who was recently announced as the Roar’s Breakthrough Player of the Year for 2020.
