After 23 years of exemplary service, Churchie School Archivist Mr Peter Collin retired at the end of Term 2 2025. One of the true gentlemen of Churchie, Peter’s tenure can be expressed in two distinctive and compelling seasons: the first commencing in 2003 as Head of Preparatory School and then in 2013 when he commenced as School Archivist.

Many boys and parents could tell you about the presence and respect that Peter engendered among the Prep boys during his time. He knew their names, he always knew where to be and could say just the right words when required.

As School Archivist, Peter demonstrated a clear passion for preserving and sharing Churchie’s fascinating and growing history with students, staff, parents, and Old Boys alike. In many ways, he has never stopped teaching and encouraging active minds to learn from the history around them. He especially loved hosting the students in the Archives when they visited to study the history of the School and its place in Queensland’s history.

Peter has always been welcoming; even trying to manage some of the more challenging requests from Old Boys who were searching for long-forgotten facts about previous generations of Churchie boys. Peter would always give generously of his time above and beyond, including happily receiving Old Boys on Anzac Day and as a key figure during reunion tours.

Peter’s overall commitment and dedication to the School community have always been evident. Both roles, whilst unique in nature, have featured Peter’s trademarks of steadfastness, strong work ethic, enthusiasm for lifelong learning and loyalty to the Churchie community. Most remember Peter for his gentle leadership, his caring and calm nature.

Thank you Sir, for your years of service to Churchie and a stellar career in education.
