Class of 1963

Stand Tall for PTS was founded in 2011 by Old Boy Tony Dell (1963) who had spent nearly a year in Vietnam as a national serviceman with 2RAR in 1967/1968. For the next forty years Tony suffered the effects of PTSD without knowing the reasons why. His experiences during that forty years and the research he undertook after finally being diagnosed made him realise how much work needed to be done to improve the lives of military and veterans afflicted with this illness.

On Sunday 2 March 2025 in the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens, Stand Tall for PTS will stage Australia’s most prominent PTSD fund raising event ever. Run/Walk for PTSD will help by providing funding to successful ex- service organisations who are doing good work but get no official funding. It will also help to continue the drive to improve the treatment of former military and first responders who have succumbed to debilitating mental trauma as a result of their service to their country and to us here at home.

It will be a big family event (8 am to 12 pm) with displays by Military, Police, Firefighters, Ambulance and the SES (State Emergency Service). There will be live music, food stalls and educational booths on mental health resources. You will also be able to play touch footy with some Broncos, kick a ball with some Lions and bat and bowl against a few Bulls. All proceeds from the event will be directed to Stand tall 4 PTS and 5 other Mental Health Charities which provide vital support and resources to individuals and families affected by PTSD.

Support Tony in his fight against PTSD by striding for change. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome, so whether you choose to participate for 1, 2 or 3 hours you can make a profound impact. Register now for FREE and give yourself time to organise a team and fundraise to qualify for the great prizes that will be on offer.

Can’t make it to the event? You can still make a difference by getting involved with the Run/Walk FOR PTSD 12 Hour Treadmill Challenge. Stand Tall 4 PTS invites gyms across the country to host their own challenge, with participants choosing to walk or run for 1-hour slots. With twelve 1-hour slots available, everyone can pick a time that works best for them.
