It is truly gratifying to see five Old Boy businesses receiving recognition at the 2024 Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards, These awards celebrate excellence, success and innovation within Brisbane’s business community.
Congratulations in particular to Old Boys Trevor Lee (1966), Anthony Lee (1997) and Michael Lee (1998), who with their business Australian Country Choice (ACC) won the High-Growth Business Award and were also a finalist for International Business Award. Since it was established in 1955, ACC has become the world’s largest family-owned, vertically integrated cattle and beef supply chain, sourcing cattle from four million acres across 42 Queensland properties, processing up to 300,000 head/year, exporting to 17 countries and employing up to 1500 people from more than 61 nationalities.

Mel Pikos (2007), whose business Tactic was a finalist for the High-Growth Business Award. Tactic’s unique combination of services enables them to provide an end-to-end solution to manage your entire property strategy.
Adam Flaskas (1993), with his company Howard Smith Wharves (HSW), won the Environmental Sustainability in Business Award. Since opening in 2018, HSW has become an iconic entertainment and dining precinct in Brisbane.
Carl Quarterman (1993), whose business Queensland Gaskets was a finalist for the Business Person of the Year Award. Since 1953, Queensland Gaskets has produced gaskets, sealing materials and other applications for engineering, manufacturing businesses and projects across industries including defence and aerospace, mining, rail, energy and more.
Ed Ross (2010), whose business TradeMutt was a Finalist for the Social Enterprise Award. TradeMutt is a social impact workwear brand who make funky eye-catching workwear designed to start conversations about mental health.
