Class of 2022

Awarded a Rising Star Hospitality Merit Scholarship, Old Boy Douglas McIntosh (2022) has begun studies in a Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Hospitality Management at Les Roches, one of the world’s leading hospitality schools in Marbella, Spain. Douglas applied to the prestigious Swiss institution for its world-renowned reputation and the opportunities it gives students. To gain the incredible experience these opportunities provide, over four years Douglas will have two six-month internships at hotels which are amongst the finest in the world.

Douglas studied at Churchie from Prep. He participated in several co-curricular activities, including the area of community service. On weekends he gave his assistance to many disability organisations including as a Basketball coach at Queensland Special Olympics. His experience at Churchie was integral in being accepted into Les Roches, which is ranked number 3 in the world for hotel management. To be accepted into such a school is a wonderful achievement and is testament to Douglas’ commitment, ambition and work ethic.

Douglas personally chose Les Roches because it allows for a wide variety of applications across all sectors and that ties in perfectly with his aim to create a new kind of tourism in Australia. That is, one that caters to people with a disability. Les Roches graduates land jobs not only in the hotel industry, but also positions in organisations including Apple, Google and even Wall Street. Douglas plans to grow and learn as a person by rising through the ranks of a Ritz Carlton or Kempinski, until he has the knowledge to create his own hotel chain, which will not only provide the best service possible but will also hopefully support those in Australia with a disability.
