Despite only being a few years out of school, Old Boys and brothers Lachlan Macfarlane (2017) and Austin Macfarlane (2019) are already forging promising careers in the film industry. They have written, produced and directed award-winning short films, which have screened across Australia, including at the Sydney Opera House and the ABC.
Lachlan is committed to producing original, commercial cinema with professional craft. Since graduating from Griffith University in 2020, with a Bachelor of Film & Screen Media, he has worked with the ad agency Khemistry where he has edited and assistant-edited on campaigns for the University of Queensland, Queensland Health, Brisbane City Council, TAFE and ASD.
Austin has always been interested in directing and editing exciting and imaginative stories. Upon graduating from Bond University, Austin has undertaken countless editing and post-production roles within the industry. Most notably, he has edited and done visual effects for Netflix originals, Disney Channel features, Hallmark films, Paramount Pictures, and many more. His passion for live broadcast has likewise enabled him to film live events such as the Olympic Swimming Trials and Open Australian Diving Championships, and host events such as Bond University’s Open Day.
Lachlan and Austin are now kicking goals together in their social media endeavours. With over 1 million views on YouTube plus over 300 thousand followers and 50 million views on TikTok, they have also been offered opportunities to travel for international campaigns. Together they produce weekly videos for Macfarlane Bros. which includes sponsored content for international brands such as Lynx, Artlist.io, Fortnite and Chupa Chups.
