Soon after finishing at Churchie, Old Boy Jack Tanner (2006) completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Queensland, which included one year on a student exchange program at the University of California, Berkeley. With the assistance of funding through the Overseas Study Scholarship for Old Boys (managed by Churchie Foundation), Jack graduated from a one-year Masters of Computer Science at Imperial College in London last year in 2017. He had started following Bitcoin and blockchain technology in 2015 and during the master’s program became deeply technically involved in the space. Jack is now working at Indorse as a Blockchain Software Developer, where he is leading the architecture to create long-term value for users. He is quite involved in education around the technology and does events around the globe.

With his passion and ability to articulate his knowledge of this technology in an easy to understand format, our Year 11 students recently enjoyed a presentation by Jack on Bitcoin and blockchain technology. His willingness to share his knowledge was welcomed and appreciated. Jack spoke of his time spent travelling in South America and living in Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico. He shared how he has been enriched both personally and professionally through his experiences of living and working in different cultures.
